Emily was born and raised in Holland, MI. Since she grew up on her family’s small farm, she learned that pregnancy and birth are normal and natural processes and has always been fascinated with both! While completing her undergraduate degree in Spanish at Hope College, she found she wanted to combine her interest in reproductive health with caring for women and their families in all stages of life- thus began her journey to becoming a midwife. Along the way she has gained powerful and varied experiences that range from working in the ICU to being a sexual assault victim advocate. She went on to complete her Master’s of Science in Nursing at Seattle University in Seattle, Washington with a specialty in Certified Nurse-Midwifery.
As a midwife, her goal is to provide women with health guidance grounded in evidence based care. She aims to empower and educate women and their families to make the best health decisions as they traverse family planning, pregnancy, birth, menopause and a variety of other life stages. She counts it an honor to walk alongside families as they grow and change.
In her free time she enjoys soaking up time with her fiancé, family and friends. When she is not working, she is most likely hiking, kayaking or running
